What perfect days are made of...

It is only 5:30 pm but this day certainly has the makings of a perfect one in my book. I awoke this morning in a beautiful beach house with ocean beckoning. Perfect start right? Instead of the usual morning rush to get to work, I slowly got out of bed and onto the balcony to take a look at that ocean that was calling. Well, technically it is the gulf, but to me it is water, beautiful, calming water. To please the ocean we ate breakfast in its presence and all were happy. What I wouldn't do for that every morning...
The rest of the morning followed along that pattern. Soaking up the sun and the morning breeze with no real place to be and no worries to consider.
Lunch, only got better. We headed out to tour Port Aransas, taking the scenic route all the way. The houses are beautiful beach colors all with balconies that I am sure are filled with fond family memories. We found ourselves a dive to eat it in called Fins, perfect. The fresh shrimp poboy, hush puppies and cold beer in a chilled plastic mug were all that they promised to be. We had spirited conversation as we filled out stomachs to the very very top!
We took another scenic route back home from lunch and I swear Santa Claus is taking a Thanksgiving vacation because we saw him on the beach. The weather is just perfect; there were kites flying high, fisherman getting the daily catch, and even families building sandcastles. Glorious! As soon as we were back in our fabulous beach cottage, everyone settled into a afternoon nap.
We are now getting ready to visit some of the inlaws old friends who live here on the island. I am sure the night will hold another fresh seafood dinner, spirited conversation, and late night games. Maybe I can get a jump on Matt in the gin rummy tournament he is currently winning.
This Thanksgiving I will be sure to include this perfect day on the list of all that I am thankful for.
